Hi everyone! I recently committed to going to Yale and am now in the process of finding a place to live. Does anyone have any views on 25 Broadway (through Elm Campus) or Crown-York apartments (official Yale grad housing)? The official grad apartments are a bit appealing since I don't plan on being in New Haven in the summer months so the fact that the leases only run the academic year are great. That being said, I wonder how clean and safe these apartments are. What have the students experiences been to actually finding a summer sublet? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi Expedia, thanks for sharing. Could you give your thoughts on your impressions of the current students and the faculty?
  3. They also have a HUGE network at the Bank (most of the professors have come from/still work there). As a foreign national, you can work on a G visa.
  4. I was able to get two of my schools to increase their funding: one from 75% to 100% and the other from 50% to 100% + RA-ship. I have to get back to a third school because they asked me to send them my other offers so they can reconsider my 50% fellowship. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on whether I should send ALL other offers or just the ones that are above what the third school is offering. For example, I got 50% each year from SIPA. There is only a slight difference between what SIPA and what the third school is offering so is it even worth sending? Thanks !
  5. Letters and fellowship information are up!!!
  6. I currently work at the Bank and I will say that the Bank favors international experience...whether it is an American with that experience or a foreign national is a secondary point. I will say that the Bank, like many other companies/organizations, is conscious of the need for more gender balance and minority representation--in particular those from South Saharan Africa. However, I wouldn't go so far to say that you would be disadvantaged being American. Also, most people start as Short Term Consultants and the recent State Department policy changes have made it more difficult for international applicants so I would imagine that the number of Americans at the Bank may increase.
  7. Yeah, I think some thing is wrong with their systems...like @Ejc5ys my portal hasn't been updated either.
  8. Got into Yale and SIPA today! Could not be more excited!! Applied: LBJ - MGPS, Georgetown GHD, Yale Jackson, Columbia SIPA - MPA DP Accepted: LBJ - MGPS (with fellowship), Georgetown GHD (with fellowship), Columbia SIPA - MPA DP (with fellowship), Yale Jackson (no word on funding)
  9. Bottom of the admissions letter
  10. If you scroll to the bottom, you'll see two hyperlinks with the date. Click the one that is not "displayed"
  11. Yup! the fellowship decision was attached as a second letter in the portal
  12. SIPA decisions are out!!!
  13. Just got an acceptance email! I'm so excited!!!
  14. Anxiously waiting here as well. How did they notify students of their decisions last year?
  15. Congratulations too! I received the same email but no, there was no mention of external scholarships...they probably were just hoping to give you more funding but couldn't so wanted to provide other resource opportunities. I think if you were recommended for it, you should definitely apply! More money is always better...no matter which scholarship it comes from!
