Hello,
I plan on meeting with a professor to ask some questions about the PH.D program in Applied Math at Columbia, and wanted some advice on questions to ask (and what not to ask). I have read a lot about the program online and have a good general understanding about the program and potential research and career areas… but… I have been out of school for 6 years and have only worked in the finance industry so I am a bit out of it. I don’t want to sound silly and just ask basic questions... any suggestions on important questions to ask?
Has anyone gone through the application process at Columbia for Applied Math (Ms to Phd)? I want to start the application process and am interested in the acceptable GRE quant scores and GPAs that others have submitted. I graduated with a math major in 2006 from Fordham and have been in the finance field ever since and want to change directions. Also, I will be taking the GRE this weekend... How difficult is it to get into Columbia for Applied Math? Does anyone have any advice?
thanks,
Gaby
