  1. Yes!!! I want to visit Venezuela! It's on my list of countries. When does your grant start?

Slated to begin in mid-September and run through July. I haven't heard anything as to when the exact dates are quite yet.

  2. Still waiting for Argentina here, haven't heard anything since the initial finalist email. It's definitely later than they've notified in the past. I think there are some other SA countries waiting as well?

    Yep. Still waiting on Venezuela.

  3. Emailed the program advisor for South America yesterday. She said decisions for Venezuela are still pending. I don't even know what to take from that!

  4. I know a lot of South America is still waiting -- I'm still waiting on Venezuela!

And Shogun1, I have similar concerns. With all of the violence in Caracas, I'm really nervous as to what's going to happen with my program as well! As far as I know, they haven't pulled out the current Fulbrighters already there, so that's a good sign in my book.

  5. I hope my Fulbright Colombia (South America in general) people are holding up well. Maybe this week is our week; It's mid-April. Congrats to those who were accepted and good luck to the rest. For those who did not get the grant...change the plan, but keep the goal. You all are awesome. I am really thankful for this community.

I'm hoping our decisions will come soon!

  6. Hey y'all--

Congrats to everyone that found out today! I applied to Venezuela as an ETA (I think I'm the only one on this forum), and I heard back from the South America program manager on a timeline for decisions. It may apply to broader South American applicants? Not sure, but I figured I'd put it out there as a PSA.

  7. Congratulations!  And very impressive, not just that you re-applied but that you chose a country that doesn't award a huge number of grantees - I've seen some years they don't award any!  It's such a dynamic, fascinating country though, especially from a diplomatic perspective.  I traveled to Maturin in the eastern state of Monagas this past summer to see a good friend get married, and was only there for 5 days but came back with so many stories.

I applied and was recommended for an ETA to Colombia, which I'm still reeling from myself, but I'll be rooting for you and everyone else in this next round.

Thank you! I'm really excited by the prosepect of spending time there. I've been interested in U.S.-Latin America politics for a while now, and I love studying U.S.-Cuba and U.S.-Venezuela relations the most. We'll have to see what happens!

Colombia should be fascinating as well! If we both make it through, we'll have to arrange a visit!

  8. Alrighty--first time posting in a while. Applied to Spain for ETA last year and wasn't recommended. Revamped my application and applied to Venezuela this year, and I was recommended!

    Any other Venezuela applicants here?

  9. Hey y'all,

I'm applying for the Spain ETA program, hoping specifically that I get one of the grants that deals with the Global Classrooms Model UN program. Anyone else who has MUN experience applying for Spain?
