  1. I am currently working on my statement of purpose. I do have a question about the sop, that I hope you can help me with. The Army has a program where they will send you to get your Masters degree and pay 100% of the tuition, then after completing your degree, you teach at West Point for 3 years. If selected, would this provide me a strong statement of purpose?
  2. I have started my research in preparation to apply to grad schools for a MS in CS with a specialization in networking. I have been reading a lot of people say that a certain school was their "safety" school and I was wondering what was the best way to decide what range a "safety" school would fall in for me. How difficult is it to get into some of the non-name schools? Here are my current stats: I received my bachelor's in computer science from a small liberal arts university. gpa- 3.37 gre V- 160/Q-167/ A- 4.5 I don't have any publications, but I do have 10 years of work experience in the Army as a telecommunications engineer. Would a CS grad school in the 75-100 range for a CS Masters be "safe" or should I look lower? Thanks,
  3. Thank you to everyone for the information. I am currently in the military and just starting to research all the possible research options that are available. I apologize for asking such a vague question, but thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks for the link tarrman, I had no idea that they did research in all of those areas. I will certainly be looking deeper into some of those areas.
  5. Are there any computer science graduate schools that do classified government research? I am asking, because I have a Top Secret government clearance and would be very interested in studying at a school that conducts classified research. I would be grateful to hear from anyone that knows how common this is.
  6. To be a little more specific, I am looking to specialize in networking. The schools that I am planning to apply to are: GT, UMass, Penn, Columbia, Maryland, VT, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Tennessee. I'm not sure if it will help, but I also have a Top Secret government clearance.
  7. I will be applying for a MS in CS next year, but I have no idea what ballpark I should be looking into. Bachelor's in CS with a 3.4 gpa CS 3.8 gpa I haven't taken the GRE yet. Work experience- I am leaving the Army after 10 years of service. The first 6 years I spent as a network technician in a Special Operations unit. I deployed twice as the lead network technician and received several awards. The next 4 years, I spent as a Signal Officer. As a Signal Officer, I deployed as the network operations Officer for 9 months. I am not sure if it will help me or not, but I am Hispanic and a first generation college student. Thank you for any helpful advice that you can give me.
