  1. CTKopster - I'm not applying this year. My main fear is that my abysmal law school performance will cause issues. I haven't taken a History class since I graduated from college. I know I need a Masters to improve my chances but I still worry about how to address law school in Masters apps.
  2. CTKopster - good luck on your applications. Your topic sounds very interesting. Do you have any insight to offer to older applicants?
  3. Age is also a concern of mine. If I pursue a PhD I may be 40 by the time I start. I have a JD and real world experience. I am unsure of what prospective employers would make of me.
  4. There were 30 applicants to the Brown MA program?

    GRE Scores

My history GPA was 3.6. My overall GPA was 3.3. I am concerned about my chances of getting into a good Masters program. I know that I need a MA to bolster my chances of getting into a good PhD program.

    GRE Scores

Do you need high GRE scores to balance average grades? My scores are V:165, AW:4.5, Q:145. I would be considered an older student.
  7. michaelgi - What school are you attending in the UK? I'm also thinking about applying to school in the UK.
  8. Deadwing0608- what makes you a non-traditional student? Due to my age I think I may be one too.
  9. jayray11 - did you address your poor grades in your application? Did your writing sample and recs come from the MA program? Thanks again.
  10. Congrats on Harvard jayray11. The MA route is my best hope too. I'm in my mid 30s. My overall GPA is sorta mediocre and my history GPA was 3.6. Since college, I have graduated from law school and worked in the legal field. Law school was a bad experience for me. I'm wondering how to explain my poor law school record and average undergrad GPA to MA programs. What do you think helped you the most? Thanks.
