I am attending Columbia for the 16month program. I was offered $9,000 for the first year with no mention of the second year. Is this typical? I am hoping with good grades and successful field education I will be able to get more money my second year. Do you usually get the same thing or more the second year as you did the first?

I have been accepted into University of Maryland Baltimore and Columbia University and am leaning towards Columbia because it is such an amazing program. I am going to to practice as a social worker in Maryland (take my licensure exam in Maryland once I graduate, work for 2 years then take the exam to be a LCSW in the state of Maryland). My question is will it make a big difference in my preparedness for the exam if I go to school in a different state? Has anyone gotten their MSW in a different state from where they took their licensure exam? Any help is appreciated!

Hello! I got accepted into Columbia 16-month as well. I heard back from NYU and was accepted into the fall 2 year but not the spring admissions. I really want to go to Columbia but it is just soo freaking expensive I am not sure if it will be worth it, thoughts?

Hello! I am in the process of applying for Spring 2013 to NYU, Fordham, Columbia, CUNY Hunter, and University of MD Baltimore. I was just wondering if anyone else is applying for Spring admittance? I am going to submit my applications this Friday and get my transcripts sent over the same day. Then I guess the waiting game begins once my recommendation letters get in! Is anyone else applying for Spring or has anyone applied for Spring in the past? Is it more competitive or less? A few of the programs offer a 16 month accelerated program that I am applying for- I assume that's a little more difficult to get into than the standard 2 year?Any information would be greatly appreciated!
