  1. Nope, but i saw someone posted they got in with no funding on March 14 so I'm worried they sent stuff out Friday.
  2. When I called my school they said March 15th. Well here it is March 15 and no emails....yet...this is killing me!
  3. I don't know the answer to all of your questions but I would be careful about what you charge on credit cards. Some companies may give you 0% apr the first year (meaning you don't pay any interest), but it often jumps to incredibly high interest rates around 16% or so.
  4. I don't think it's rude! It's rude of them to be late!!!
  5. On my acceptance letter it says "You will be receiving a more detailed notification email, including scholarship information (if applicable) and next steps you need to take around March." I was also told the 15th (Which is Sat?)...I'm hoping to get an email soon so I can make my final decision.
  6. Wow, thanks for the information! Now it's just a matter of getting recognized out of the other 1,000 applicants. Good luck with Columbia!
  7. Trying to get a job at the University? LIke working as an admin or another 9-5 type job in order to get tuition assistance? I have been applying to some at NYU and haven't heard back, seems rather competitive.
  8. Waiting for funding is the worst. I got all excited that I was finally accepted and now I'm not sure if I can even go....I feel your pain
  9. I didn't apply to reynolds, just Goldberg. Still no info on funding. By the way Orange- I'm admitted as full-time and most classes can be taken either during the afternoon or night due to the amount of students that work full-time. I do believe that you can switch to part-time at any point though.
  10. I called the office and they said we should hear about funding around March 15. If anyone hears let me and the forum know!

Louise: I would consider Jersey City. What is so bad about it? Is there a specific neighborhood that would be best? Any idea the cost of rent or commute time to NYU? Thanks for the suggestion
  12. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to talk to the faculty or any students. Check out the website for employment statistics and a list of places where students are working at http://wagner.nyu.edu/careers/stats.php I'm not sure about international but I'm sure you could call the career office and ask - everyone has been really helpful when I have had questions.

Thanks Astorian! Good luck on your NYU applications. I still am undecided as I haven't gotten Financial Aid or Scholarship info...we will see. Keep us posted!
  14. Good topic idea. The only school I've visited is NYU and I was only there for about a day. The main campus is a few blocks from the Puck Building where NYU Wagner is housed but that's not surprising for New York. I walked around Washington Square Park which seems to be the center of campus and it was awesome. There was this jazz band playing live and about every type of person you could ever imagine sitting around and listening. The campus buildings surrounding the park where architecturally beautiful. The visitors center was inspirational as it chronicled many social and political firsts that occurred at the university. There were many cute cafe's and lunch places in the surrounding blocks. The Wagner office itself was very modern. I just walked for a minute and looked around but everyone seemed friendly. It was definitely a campus within a city - not like any of the midwestern colleges I'm used to.
  15. Wow! Congratulations! That's a great offer
  16. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying to find something related to nonprofit or finance (my undergrad major), but school will be my first priority so I need more of a 9-5 type job. I have also applied to a few jobs at NYU (admin related) but haven't heard back. Ideally, I'd like to move out there in june or july so we will see.
  17. I get the same impression- I'll post when I find out.

I'm accepted to NYU for the fall for the MPA program - still haven't heard about funding. I'm thinking I will move there in June or July to try to find a full-time job before classes (depending on my financial situation). What do you think about surviving on a salary of 35K ish (I'm assuming if I get an admin job I'd be making that). I'm trying to find just a 9-5 so I can focus on school at night. I'm open to living with others, I was thinking brooklyn but not sure about the different neighborhoods. Any insight?
  19. Also, i called and they are sending out scholarship info March 15 (i'm assuming paired with decisions)
  20. Wow- very ambitious. Any advice on finding a job? I've been using craigslist. I'm trying to do something related and am mentioning that I'll be attending night school in my cover letters. It is difficult because I want to find a 9-5, nothing with crazy hours.
  21. Good luck unknown! Let us know when you find out. Also, if you go to NYU would you be working full-time? I'm starting to look for jobs and ideally would transfer out there in June or July to start working.
  22. I'm sure that depends greatly. You can go to the program's website for more information. It seems it depends on your undergraduate major and how closely related to the MA program it is. The admissions committees do want to see that you can handle graduate level work, though. This could be evidenced by a high GRE score or a lot of experience. If you are worried about that aspect of your application make sure that everything else you turn in is strong (i.e. LOR's, resume, personal statement, etc.). Good luck!
  23. I also didn't have the optional essay, although they did email me asking if I was going to submit an essay for the scholarships. Like I said I completed it in October. I have a 3.9 GPA with a major in Finance and minor in Italian. Experience in consulting, banking, and non-profit. I didn't take the GRE. We'll see how it goes when funding decisions come out. Good luck to everyone.
  24. I'm not too knowledgeable about rankings but from my research each program is completely different. Some of them offer specializations, study abroad-ish type programs, and internships/real world projects. A good way to gauge if the program is reputable and up your alley is to check on the career services website at the college. Find out where alumni are working (names of places and geographical locations), as well as what percent immediately find a job. If they are being hired by reputable organizations that interest you, it may be a good fit. Just my two cents
  25. Yea, I got an email telling me to check the website. I applied REALLY early though - beginning of October. Good Luck!
