I will be attending Smith!!

Hi! I withdrew for a semester and replaced two failing grades on my transcript as well as having 2 D's on my transcript still. However, all of that happened in my year and a half at my college. After withdrawing for a semester, I came back and my grades have been much better. My overall GPA when I applied was a 3.09 (Since graduating in December, it's a 3.2) but my last 60 credit hours was a 3.54 (now a 3.81). I have gotten into every school I applied to so far, except wait-listed at the University of Chicago. I don't think my academic record hindered me too much, but I also have two years of experience and strong LORs. When applying with a lower GPA, make sure that you have strong letters as well as explaining in your essay why your GPA is so low. It's better to draw attention to it yourself and explain than wait for them to catch it. Hope this helps!

I did not get any funding but I didn't apply for financial aid through them, I was hoping for a merit-based scholarship and I did not receive one But, I love the program so might look to outside sources!

Thank you! I'm actually leaning more towards Smith than Penn because of Smith's emphasis on clinical work and I like the idea of Smith's unique program. Is there a school you're leaning more towards?

Not yet. I hear that they send out all their early decision letters at once and by the end of the first week of February. I applied as well and am anxiously waiting!!

Hi all! I submitted my TEN (I know, I went a bit overboard) applications and all of them were made complete by the end of October. I applied to: Smith BU UIC University of Chicago Penn Rutgers Bryn Mawr UConn Fordham University of Maryland- Baltimore I got accepted into Penn already! No news of financial aid yet. Should be hearing back from the other programs starting by the end of January.

Hi! I'm new here but I've started my applications for the Fall of 2013 for MSW programs. I'm a little nervous about getting in somewhere. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get detailed admission stats for programs? Here are my stats: Overall GPA: 3.1 (Last 60 Credit hours is a 3.54) Majors: Double Major with a BS in psych and BA in english from Drake Univ. in Iowa LORs: I will have very strong letters, from both professors and supervisor's including the polk county CASA coordinator, director of an agency, and professors from both my majors including my advisor Experience: 1 year as an intern at a social service agency, co-running and running group therapy sessions. 11 months as a CASA advocate, volunteering to represent abused/neglected children in court, 5 months of working at a shelter for troubled youth and 3 months (summer job) working as a play therapist for a boy who has autism. Programs I'm applying: Penn, UIC, U of C, Univ. of Maryland- Baltimore, BU, Smith, UConn, Fordham, Rutgers, and Bryn Mawr. What do you think my odds are of getting in? I will have all of my apps completed by the first deadline. Any help would be appreciated
