missbhala Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Hi.I am not sure if this is the right platform to inquire. I recently finished my degree in South Africa as a Social Worker and because I am planning to move to Canada , I would like to find out if there are job opportunities. My second major was psychology .I just want to know the procedure including obtaining a work permit and settling. Thanks for your input
lewin Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 You might need a job offer before being allowed a work permit. Good news is that a social worker you might be able to apply for express entry, though I'm not familiar with the job prospects for them specifically. You'll probably need an education credential assessment to ensure your degree is equivalent to one offered in Canada. Here's a government page on immigrating to Canada. Here's a page on the points system. You need 67/100 or higher to qualify for express entry.
