anywhere Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I have recently been invited to Georgia Tech by the mechanical engineering department to tour and talk to some professors about assisting in research. I know this is a good sign, but I am curious about my chances for acceptance at this point. Does this mean I am close to admission? Or do I still have a ways to go? And I was also wondering how many steps there are when trying to get a GRA/GTA position. Would this only be the first round of interviews, or is this the only round? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
launchvehicle Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Hey, I received a similar email from Georgia Tech in mid December. A day after I received the invitation to visit, I received a preliminary acceptance email to the PhD program in AE. A week ago, I received a confirmation of my acceptance. I think that receiving the invitation to tour is a very good sign; I'm assuming the purpose of the visit is just to see which professor or lab is a good fit for you, as well as a way for professors to determine who they want to fund. Keep in mind that these are just my speculations and can be completely wrong, especially for a different department.
