E-P Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Within my field (and maybe everywhere?), it's normal for schools to invite their accepted students to campus to visit for a couple of days. Unfortunately, my two schools overlap, and I've already RSVP'd at the one that contacted me first. Does anyone know if it's normal/acceptable to ask for an alternative date? If so, how do you position the "why?" Is it, "Sorry, I RSVP'd at another school, can we do another weekend?" or something more like, "I have out-of-town that I can't move that weekend." I'd like to visit both (and not have to pay my hotel when I get there), but I'm not sure what the normal way of handling it is.
TakeruK Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 It's okay to say that you already have another commitment and ask for another date. You can leave it at that or you can name the other school if you want. In my field, no program will turn you away because you are visiting somewhere else---we often chat about your other options because we want you to find the best place for you, even if it's not with us. But I am not as sure about your field, so check with your advisor or others here E-P 1
