SNPCracklePop Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hi! I recently was admitted into a program in Molec. Bio + Genetics, and I'm looking at potential advisors. Are there any resources outside of the dept. website that can provide details on a particular lab's funding? If not, should I assume that a high number of recent publications is a strong indication of adequate funding? Any ideas would really help me out. Thank you so much!
Genomic Repairman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 You can look them up on NIH Reporter or Research Crossroads and check out their funding situation. Make sure in the NIH Reporter to search all and not just active projects just to see how stable of funding they have had in the past. heelandcoo88 and yoshimoshi 1 1

I've been stalking professors all evening.. highest I've found so far is $21 million.
Genomic Repairman Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Glad to help. I also use the NIH reporter to search keywords of grants and see who is doing research similar to mine. This system is such an upgrade over the old CRISP system.
SNPCracklePop Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks so much for the help. Love these resources, spent quite a bit of time researching potential advisors. Thanks again!!
confusedChicken Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Well done with those--where in the heck did you find them?
Genomic Repairman Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I use them to look up folks who might have or have had competing or interesting research and then I tag there names in a weekly PubMed search for their publications so that I know what my competition is up too.
