beegee529 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I've been fortunate enough to have a number of invitations for interviews and recruitment weekends so far for social psych PhD programs (thank goodness!). So here's the question: what is the appropriate attire for these visits? I assume that one should wear a suit for an interview, but how about meetings with potential advisors at schools to which you've already been accepted? How about social events? I don't want to go underdressed, but I also don't want to be that one annoying person that is wearing a suit when everyone else is in business casual or jeans. Thanks!
polisciapp Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I have been told that suits may be overdressing. Business casual seems the norm. I would probably recommend calling and asking the specific department as standards may vary.
rising_star Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I would stick to the nicer side of business casual. Nice slacks, an appropriate shirt, sweater, nice/clean shoes.
