crimsonengineer87 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Hey guys, I have applied to a couple civil and environmental master's programs. I applied to UW, WSU, U Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, UC Davis, and UC Berkeley. I have only heard back from UC Davis and UW. My question is, when is the latest that departments will notify whether you have been rejected or accepted? Can they do that up to April 15th? I mean, I'm thinking I might be on some list, but can they just not tell you until ... May? I would really like to visit the campuses knowing I have been accepted so I don't waste my time. In addition, it'd be nice if they did have a visitation weekend. I know UIUC did, which makes me think I wasn't accepted. Anyways, your guys' opinion will really be helpful. Thanks. Julian
rising_star Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The last day for them to notify is probably the first day of fall classes... It is possible to get offers after April 15, even for programs that don't do rolling admissions.

How will international applicants plan to relocate if they are notify a few months before the first day of classes?
bookchica Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Last year, a friend of mine was accepted to a Ph.D program in late April / early May. He had assumed a rejection since he hadn't heard, but in fact this school does not inform the people on their waiting list until it becomes clear they are either accepted or rejected...

Most schools seem to have a rule that they won't require a formal acceptance / rejection of any admission offers until April 15. If you're on a waitlist, there's a good chance that you won't hear anything until after all of their previous offers have gone out, which could be anywhere from now until probably June (just a guess on the June part).
