caffefreddo Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Hi everyone, PhD student here, and I'm concerned about a course grade: I will probably get a C in an advanced undergraduate course that's completely unrelated to my major... Will I get into trouble for this? My GPA will still be well above the 3.00 minimum required by the Graduate School, but it's my understanding that any grade lower than B will raise a red flag. Should I be as worried as I am? What do you think? Thank you!
TheWalkingGrad Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 It really depends on your program and your field. At my school a friend of mine got a C in a foundational course for the degree and nothing happened to her. I suggest you ask your advisor what they think. Good luck!
E-P Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 I'm dealing with a similar problem and asked a similar question. I asked my department head, and was told that they understand that lower grades will happen in an undergraduate course, and so it's not a big deal, especially since your overall GPA will work out to be over a 3.0. I'd talk to your graduate advisor, but I wouldn't worry too much.
