Wanted to start the conversation going even though the application isn't available yet..

I've emailed a few professors because I wanted to see where they will down the line when it opens...

Has anyone heard anything new about GROW? I'm beginning to be afraid that it isn't happening this year. I tried calling, but I only reach an automated line that told me to email. I tried emailing, but no response yet.

I just received this concerning reply from the GRFP team:

GROW program is under review and that there is no further information at this time.

Well, that is really disheartening. I've been planning to apply for this program for literally years and now it's going under?!

Hi,

Excited to apply for the GROW fellowship, does anybody know of successful examples? The application is a bit different from the GRFP and I want to make sure I am on the right track as I develop the proposal and budget.

hey guys, 

i'm applying for grow this year and i'm wondering if anyone can give me some info regarding the budget.   i'm hoping to go to australia, and even with the somewhat expensive flight, i have no idea how to use the entire $5k.   do people often do multiple trips or is there something else that this money can be used for?

I'm pretty sure the rest of your budget will go towards research costs (i.e. supplies, field costs, etc.)

Nothing yet, I emailed on May 2, 2019 and got an email back that "GROW Applications are still being reviewed. You should hear back shortly."

I just heard back that my GROW application to Finland was approved!

Yes congrats on Finland! I have not heard back either, any news if the period of performance is extended since they are so delayed in their award notifications?

i haven't heard anything about them changing the time period.    they must be a bit disorganized, so if they change it, it might not be for a while.

i was kinda hoping that i would have results by now.   has anyone heard anything else?

I applied for Denmark. On June 7 they emailed me that as soon as they receive feedback from the partner agency, I'll be notified whether my GROW application was approved. Haven't heard anything since.
