bencrosier Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) I was accepted to and am now considering UFlorida and New Mexico State social psych programs. I do ev psych research and would have ep focused advisers. Love them both and it is a draw as far as they are concerned... but I would much rather live in New Mexico and they are giving me more money. Is it worth it to go to UF because it is more prestigious? Will it be that much easier to get a job in academia coming from one state school as compared to the next? I am losing my mind deciding! Anxiously.waiting Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Hi Ben, There is no comparison in my opinion. UF is definitely more prestigious and ranks higher than New Mexico across all levels. Also, Gainesville is a very nice place to live (I did my undergraduate there). Yes, if you want to remain in academia, the place you decide to go most certainly will make a difference. I am sure NMSU is a good school, but it is not in the same caliber as UF (top-tier). Remember, the money they offer you up front isn't everything. You can later find ways to fund your education that do not include loans. Just my 2 cents.
