How much time does a referee has to write a letter of recommendation for a graduate student.

I’m planning to apply to a grad school and now when it comes to a reference letters I’m wondering if I need them to be done before I apply unofficially.

For many schools, your application won't be 1) marked as complete or 2) considered by the admissions team until all of your required materials are submitted. Since many schools list 3 letters of recommendation as a requirement, these should also be submitted by the deadline.
