Ecstatic! Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Does anybody have any ideas about where/how to complete the list of ASHA pre-requisites? I have to complete a Biology and Physics related subject to earn credits. I was wondering if there are any online options? If you have already taken them, what was your experience? I am nervous as I last took these subjects in school over 20 years ago. I am based in New York city so if anyone has experience of any universities/community colleges/institutions in this area where I can take these courses, that would also be appreciated. Thank you so much!
Rezzy S. Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) Community colleges are probably your best bet. That's how I got my last pre-req. For physical science, either physics or chemistry is accepted. I chose chemistry because it seemed to have much lower math pre-reqs (though it was still math heavy and my last math class had been 10 years prior!). Also, try to take the "for non-major versions." Sometimes they won't say that explicitly but you can tell from the course descriptions. Good luck! Edited December 21, 2018 by Rezzy S.
SouthernDrawl Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) I did my Chemistry and several other pre-req’s online at Utah State University and was accepted into several programs for grad school the following semester. Very straightforward experience and I was able to finish them while working full time! Edited December 22, 2018 by SouthernDrawl
draySLP1 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Here's a link you can search all SUNY online programs for the courses you need: http://navigator.suny.edu/courses. I took Chemistry at SUNY Empire online...it was more expensive but no math prereqs (not sure your background, but I think all physics classes have college level math prereqs). I took human biology at SUNY Ulster. It was a great class. Good luck!
