Applying for 2 programs at same school

Hello all,

I am considering applying for 2 different graduate programs within the Psychology department at the same University. (1) Human Factors and 2) Industrial Organizational). Last year, I applied to the I/O program and was told that even though I was a strong candidate, I was waitlisted until someone else turned down their spot. Of course no one did because their program is highly regarded.

I honestly can't choose between the 2 and am wondering if it'll look bad for me to do this. Also, I have a letter of recommendation from the director of the HFac program because I took a class of his as a non-degree student last year.

Thoughts?
