I am waiting on Northwestern for either an accept or reject. This forum is to get a sense of who else is still waiting and the number of people who are.

I count 1.

Also still waiting, but I think that they've already sent out their acceptances. I think they also rejected a bunch of people yesterday, so those of us who haven't heard are probably on a seldom utilized unofficial waitlist.

I am still waiting as well. Checked the website a million times yesterday and today, but nothing. According to the archives of results on this site, 2 years ago they had an officially notified wait-list. Coincidentally, they notified their wait-list-ees on Feb. 22. Fingers crossed... Although I am not highly optimistic at this point...

Hmm. I was browsing the archives and it seems a similar thing happened last year- some people didn't get their online rejections until the beginning of March; someone contacted the dept in late Feb., and the grad coordinator said the dept hoped to make all decisions by the end of the week... I suppose it wouldn't hurt to call if you are volunteering, though. :)

"Final decisions have not yet been made on all applications. We hope to have decisions communicated to most applicants by the middle of next week.

Thank you for your ongoing patience."

That was 4PM CST Today. So they are going slowly. But I wasn't refused...!

Received my rejection today as well. I'm trying to get out of the Chicago area anyways, so it's really a blessing in disguise (not really, I like Evanston). Anyways good luck to those of you still waiting.

I'm still waiting too. I'm pretty mystified by Northwestern's admissions process at this point.

as am i. if i don't hear something sometime this week, i am going to call and ask what the deal is. if we are on some kind of waiting list, they should just tell us!

FYI: The student/campus days for Pol Sci are this weekend. I'm not sure if that plays into this as well and if so how. For instance, if you're on the wait list would they offer you a chance to visit?

good to know as i probably wouldn't be able to arrange a visit in time-- if i were even to be invited, that is. i wonder what the hold up is in notifying us of our status.

edited to say: maybe they are assuming people will turn down the offer after visiting and then offer places to those who haven't heard yet? or maybe i am rejected and they just haven't notified me. agh.

Just called and apparently the people who haven't been accepted or rejected yet are on some kind of de facto waiting list. The grad coordinator didn't use that term but said I would be notified on or before April 15th and that it depended on what the admitted students decided.

I'm telling myself not to get my hopes up too much. There are just too many on this "de facto waiting list,"

several just on this page and several more amongst the fellow applicants at my school.

Maybe if we could survive another round of rejections...
