Argument Task ( not good with this one at all)

SuperCorp recently moved its headquarters to Corporateville. The recent surge in the number of homeowners in Corporateville proves that Corporateville is a superior place to live than Middlesburg, the home of SuperCorp's original headquarters. Moreover, Middlesburg is a predominately urban area and according to an employee survey, SuperCorp has determined that its workers prefer to live in an area that is not urban. Finally, Corporateville has lower taxes than Middlesburg, making it not only a safer place to work but also a cheaper one. Therefore, Supercorp clearly made the best decision.

Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on the assumptions and what the implications are if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

SuperCorp plans on moving to Corporateville over their original headquarters in Middlesburg due to certain factors. These factors included, lower taxes, an employee’s survey, and the surge of homeowners. This assumption that supercorp made the right decision is based on false information.

The first assumption that the surge of homeowners in corporateville is better for the company can be alluded to the fact that many houses might have been built in the new town but does not give enough information on the housing market of the town. This also states that if more people are buying homes than maybe the area is becoming more urban which was a defending point to move towards the city according to employees. While many employees stated they did not want to move to urban areas. The assumption could be better if they state what kind of housing the new town provided for the families of the company.

The other assumption is that the company did a survey to figure out where the employees wanted to live in. They elected not to move into an urban area, but the statement did not provide how many employees actually provided their response in the survey. If states that majority wanted to move out of an urban city than it should be states in a majority rule or more than fifty percent want to move. Relying on a bland survey with limited results means that some may actually enjoy Middletown for their urban area than not.

The last assumption is that due to the lower tax rate of the new town will make it cheaper and safer can also be misleading. While higher taxes rate may provide infrastructures such as a police station and fire department actually make Middletown a safer community. The lower tax rates may make it cheaper but could provided a more dangerous living situation for the employees of Supercorp. If they company stated that they would provide more for the new town in a form of tax cuts to help the city be safer than the assumption could be right.

In conclusion, the main assumptions that Corptatville will be better than Middletown for the new headquarters is based on false or very misleading statements. These assumptions are the surge of homeowners, the employees survey, and the tax rate of the new town. All three assumption could be stated better to lead to a better understanding of why move the new headquarters.
