langzippkk Posted May 9, 2019 Share Posted May 9, 2019 I finally got rejection from BA and DS programs and now I have to choose from these two. My short term goal is to become a data scientist in industry .(btw I am an international students) My undergraduate background is in mathematics and statistics. As far as I know, UIUC math program has flexibility in taking courses from CS and Stats. But still, I have to take about 6 math courses and they really cost a lot of time. But UIUC CS are strong and their location is not good. Uchicago CS program is for student with little programming background. Their program has data analysis track. But I communicate with their students, they said almost no student go to data science and alomost everyone go to Software engineer. I really want to get some advice from you.
