SLP at Northeastern University

Hi - I have a question about the SLP graduate program at Northeastern University. Is there anyone out there who goes there and knows what it's like? Would you recommend it over George Washington or NYU? Is it a well respected program? Is it competitive to get in?

Thanks if you can answer any of these questions. Also - sorry if this has been brought up before in another thread! I went back a few pages and didn't see anything...

Hi - I am wondering the same thing. I was accepted there but haven't had to chance to talk to any current grads... though I really did like the open house. Have you gotten into the program for this fall?

I'm "conditionally accepted", meaning I've got to bust out some prereqs over the summer (6 classes!!!). I really don't know much about the program. I only applied because my boyfriend decided to move to Boston in early February and Northeastern was the only school still accepting applications.

Are you still considering going there?

Also - do you think taking 6 classes over the summer will be too much? I'm begining to wonder if I'll be able to do complete this much work successfully. I might just end up going to NYU. Is Northeastern worth busting my ass over?

I was also "conditionally accepted" but I only have 2 pre-reqs to do (I did the rest in undergrad). Northeastern doesn't offer the pre-reqs in the summer, so you'd have to do them somewhere else. I have been in contact with a current student in the Northeastern SLP program who says that the program is really good. She said that she is really glad she went there - good professors, good classes, great city. I went to the open house and the school & clinic is really nice. Definitely a lot of work though....

That sounds positive. Although I've heard very little about this program, the few things I've heard have been good.

Do you think you're going to go there? I'm still up in the air. I guess I'll know by tomorrow when I can figure out if I can register for all the prereqs I need. I'm going to take 5 at Utah State and another at either UT, Ohio State, or LaSalle (if I can register).

They let me know about the conditions of acceptance a little short notice. If I can't work this out, I guess I'm going to go to NYU or GW..... =(
