stat@TAMU v.s. stat(math)@BU

Recommended Posts

both phd programs. maybe both teaching assistantship.

TAMU has a good ranking while some argue it is only because its large size.

Boston city is definitely attractive, however, its program is in math dept. and there are only a few professors.

I personally prefer the climite in Boston. So now, I could not make up my decision between the two.

Welcome any suggestion, including the placement, environment and so on~

Thanks

I would say the advisor is really the most important thing in PhD life. So choose the school with professors working on areas that you are interested in. Large schools have the advantage that you can have a broader perspective in the arae of study, but the best possible thing is that you already have a feeling of what you want to specialize in, and thus you can make your decision easier.

Good luck! smile.gif

Have you already joined BU math department?

Could you tell me something about the placement of this program?

Thanks a lot!
