citrus17 Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Hi all! Clinical Psych PhD 2020 applicant here! Two quick questions here: 1. I've applied two years ago, and worked in a post-bacc job since then. In my inquiry emails to the professors who did not offer me an interview back then, should I mention that I have applied to them before? Could I use that in my favor or would that not make a difference at all? 2. My top choice school (both the program and the professor seamlessly match my interest) is in the same city as I currently work in. I have applied to a faculty there (who is still my one and only love) two years ago when I was graduating from college. Now that I'm in the same city, would you suggest scheduling a super brief meeting with him to talk about applications? I know he probably won't accept my request at all, but would it hurt to ask? Thank you so very much everyone! Good luck to those who are also applying this round! We can do this:)

Let your current application credentials speak for themselves. You can send them an email maybe asking if they are planning on taking a student for Fall 2020, but don't say you applied two years ago. 2. No, don't ask to speak to him about applying. Most, if not all, professors find this extremely annoying and are inundated with these requests. If anything, maybe try to reach out to him if you are at the same conference or networking event, but do not ask for advice or anything on applications.
