brooketrout Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Hi folks, I took the GRE my junior year of undergrad in early February 2018, intending to enter graduate school in the fall of 2020. I know the score lasts five years, so the score itself should be okay until June 30, 2023. I recently heard someone say that while the score lasts for five years, graduate programs do not want scores that are more than 3 years old, or that they discount them in some way. Perhaps for other graduate programs? Or subject tests? I am merely wondering if anyone has heard similar chatter, or if having a 3+-year-old GRE score has carried any baggage for anyone in the admissions process. Thank you in advance!
WRS Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Can't hurt to retake it. Compare your scores and then send whichever one is better.
