earssss Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I recently finished applying to AUD programs this past week, and if I get invited, I will need to fly out to the mandatory interviews at multiple schools. I couldn't find anything about an alternative skype interview for any of the schools, and one program even specified that you must attend the on campus interview. Will programs ever pay for an applicants flight? After paying all those application fees I honestly don't know how I will afford the cost of plane tickets plus hotel rooms. Thank you!!!!!
eeriejens Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 From my understanding, AuD programs don't pay for flights or accommodations. However, if you're a very qualified applicant that they really want at their school, and they have a budget for it, maybe? I think it may be a school-specific thing. I haven't heard of any of my friends who also applied to different AuD programs get their flights paid for, though. I understand your pain. I'm about to drop $500 on just plane tickets to attend my interviews. I'm just happy I have the interviews in the first place. ?
FutureAuD8 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I am a current AuD student and I don’t know of my department paying to fly a student in for interviews. However Im guessing some students that qualify for university assistantships and fellowships may have potential visit funding from the university. When I applied to out of state school I just had budgeted flights with my application fees. I luckily didn’t actually need them. I would ask about a Skype interview should you be invited for an interview. If they say no I would consider asking if a current student could pick you up from the airport or something. That way you are getting a ride and you can ask some one on one questions to a student
Lita E Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 All 4 of the schools that I applied to are out-of-state or completely across my state, and I haven't had any issues with scheduling Zoom meetings for my interviews. Good luck to you!
