Different interview process?

Hi all, 

Just want to get some opinions on the different interviewing process. I was invited by my POI to have a zoom interview first and was notified that a decision will be made on whether or not I receive an in-person. However, I also saw 2 others that were directly invited to the in-person by the admission office, one of them has the same POI as mine, without having an online interview first. 

Any thoughts? Thank you!

With the others, your POI for sure wants to meet them in person. For you, they may not be too sure about it and wants to use the zoom interview to get a better feel before confirming an in-person invite.
