Hi,

I recently got accepted by Northwestern DGP and WashU DBBS. I'm trying to decide which program I should go. I come from a computational background, but I'd love to further extend my study. My interests are gene expression and regulation in development and disease. I especially want to learn more about stem cell related stuff. Any suggestion? Do you guys have professors of interests in these areas from these two program? Any comments are welcomed!

Which professors interest you at Northwestern? Which professors interest you at WashU? How does their stipend compare to the cost of living in each city? Keep in mind, that Chicago is much more expensive than St. Louis. Also, there are some universities which decrease their level of support after the first year. Make sure that neither do that. Also, find out if either increase their stipend on a yearly basis to combat cost of living increases.

If you trust USNews, WashU is ranked #9 for "Best Global Universities for Neuroscience and Behavior" and Northwestern is ranked 33rd. However, I'd advise against these rankings playing a factor without understanding what each university has to offer.

I understand that DGP is an interdisciplinary program at Northwestern. How does this help you reach your goals?  Who excites you?

DBBS is an umbrella department. Which department were you accepted by? Who excites you?
