jonathan05 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I got a full scholarship for my graduate study and I was wondering if that means that my acceptance chances increases? Also, what about getting into specific labs?
Gatech_ST Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Congrats on the scholarship ! I was in similar boat, it should not hurt but you do get considered on some schools that hand out unfunded acceptance for PhD (which are usually considered as soft rejection). For labs/professors, if they have time and you impressed them enough, it will certainly increases your chances of getting into their team. Many of the professors I was interested in didn't have any funding left to accept any new applicants. You,should, however, make sure that you mention that you are fully funded when contacting professors/in your SOP etc! Best of luck! jonathan05 1
Lewis-H Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Unfortunately, the reality is that many students who more than meet all of the requirements for a full scholarship will not get it. In fact, only 0.1% of students get a full-ride per year.
