classylmarie Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) Hi, this is my first time submitting a post, so if wasn't forwarded to the right heading of the forum please forgive me. I got admitted to the doctoral program in the school of education at the Univ. of Mass. Amherst. I thought I was going to receive this award but I didn't. I'm looking on the positive side at least I was one of the candidates nominated for the award out of the entire SOE. However, I really want to go but funding is the issue in addition to that I am overseas. I am in the process of searching for assistantship through their weekly newsletter but I strongly feel I am doing to much. Now this part is new for me because in the past I have been lucky to receive scholarships or awards for a certain amount of money. If anybody is familiar with this school and the process of how funding is issued here please let me know. Do doctoral students have first priority for assistantships? If so, do they have to apply for it. I have developed a dialogue with my interim advisor via internet due to the time difference but I'm really concerned about the timing and dispensing of funds before the summer break. Do doctoral students have first priority for assistantships? Yes, first and foremost. Edited April 14, 2010 by euges720 shahman101 1
