Got NSERC but rejected from admissions

Sorry if this has been posted before, it's very hard to search this topic.

I was offered NSERC CGS-M at the school I wanted to attend but was rejected by their admissions office. I accepted the award on the NSERC site and the school's admissions page right away. I was also offered (and accepted) a top-up scholarship of $5,800 that is automatically offered to NSERC winners by the school.

I'm surprised and disappointed by this, I thought the odds of this happening were very low.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there any way to capitalize on the award still? Any advice on what I should do next?
