Can I just send an email to reject?

I have a couple schools I need to reject, but do I have to send the letter, or can I just email them saying I picked another school?

You can just send an email.

If they gave you a letter, I would send it. I had emailed a rejection to one school, and I continued to get emails from them asking for my response until I filled out their official forms.
