Jess77 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Long story short, I was accepted to Minnesota-Twin Cities and never received funding. Rejected them, UDel had a late deadline and didn't hear from them, starting thinking of other options. I was graduating a year early so I was just thinking of staying the fourth year and reapplying. UDel calls end of March, go for interview, and I got accepted with full tuition and an assistantship...completely surprised! I'm going for a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies...I don't think this thread has been made yet, but if it is, sorry! Anyway, anyone else attending?
Christian O. Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I'll be attending for English. They seem to be really good about giving funding and teaching assistantships to all their students, even MAs, which is a good sign for the future of the school, I think. It's also a beautiful campus. I haven't run into many others on this board who are going there, however.
Jess77 Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 I completely agree! I love the campus. I visited when it was raining and still thought it was beautiful, lol. I don't think many on here are going to UDel either...do you plan on commuting or moving down there?
Christian O. Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I'm going to be moving down there, most definitely. How about you?
Christian O. Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 This thread kind of sunk, but there must be some more folks heading to UD in the Fall. Just a few more weeks of anticipation, anxiety, and excitement now.
Jess77 Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 I agree -- anyone else going there in the fall?
Quarex Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I agree -- anyone else going there in the fall? I am not so much "going there" as "returning there for my third year." But I think that is still roughly the same thing. The University of Delaware is a good school, and as it was seemingly one of the few that managed to come through the financial turmoil with sufficient resources to keep hiring (if the comments from job searches in our department were any indication), it is seemingly on an all-around upward trajectory. Hey, sounds good to me!
