Apply to statistics MS or PhD?

Hi everyone,

I'm applying to stats/biostats PhD programs for fall 2021. My end goal is a PhD, but is it worth it applying to some "safety" MS programs?

I know for some fields if you apply to the PhD program, they might admit you to the MS program if they feel you're not strong enough for a PhD yet. Is this true for stats/biostats programs or does it depend on the university?

Depends on the University but most will.  Many will have it as a question on the application.
