fingerscrossedSLP Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, Longtime lurker but first time posting here. I'm going to be applying for Canadian SLP programs for Fall 2021 entry. I'm currently doing well in most of my classes except one which is causing me a lot of anxiety about it possibly bringing down my gpa. I'm not sure if this is a dumb question but I'll try to explain as best I can: The course I'm worried about is a course in my major that I need for my degree to graduate, but it's not an SLP pre req. If I submit my pre requisite grades and my sub-gpa, does anyone know if I could take another course (to replace the one causing me stress and satisfy that graduation requirement) during the summer and still begin a grad school program that coming September? Or would I need to have my degree by the typical graduation date around June? Applications haven't opened here yet so I'm not 100% sure how it works in terms of proving that you have a Bachelors degree, or will have one since I'll be applying during my final year. Hope this was somewhat clear, the stress is getting to me lol. Thanks in advance. Edited October 12, 2020 by fingerscrossedSLP more detail
Cece93 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 You shouldn’t have a problem as long as you make sure you get your degree. Most of my friends who were accepted into grad programs, medical school, and what not, applied and got in before they finished their degree. Schools just want you to actually finish then send them proof. I would say try and finish the first summer session as it gives you peace of mind.

That makes sense, I'm sure the main issue is just about when transcripts get sent in. I looked at one of the schools I'm applying for and I think the deadline for final transcripts is June 30th, and the first summer semester ends less than a week before that, so it might be cutting it kind of close, but at least I know it's an option if absolutely necessary. Either way, thanks for your help!
