SingaporeCE_MBA Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) I have been out of school for a while, and can only get 1 LoR from my old professor. The other 2 will from my former managers at work. Both of my managers asked me to write the letter myself, and they'll sign it. How should I write the letter? Of course I can google for the format of the letter, but what I want to know is, should I write all positive things about me, or do I include some of my weaknesses? I'm applying to Econ PhD at US schools. Appreciate your answers. Edited December 14, 2020 by SingaporeCE_MBA
Maddiegun Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 HI! I've been at the LOR hunt for a while and even though we are in very different fields, the advice that alumni, professors and other professionals in my industry have given me is that an LOR needs to be positive, i.e., it should sound encouraging, real and mention how eager you are to learn and apply that in your practice as a student. Your professors/employer need to mention that you've always been a student who has approached them first, and that you're always willing to adapt to any challenge you're given and are a problem solver. Hope you nail your LOR's! SingaporeCE_MBA 1
