I was super fortunate to have gotten into a few grad schools so far... I didn't think I would get into any of the programs but now that I have a few to choose from I am kinda lost. So if you know anything about any of the programs or have any recommendations let me know! I've heard that a few of these programs are "cash cows" but I'm not exactly sure why? My main priority is finding good job placement in industry but it is possible that I may apply to some PhD programs if I end up loving research.

Accepted:

  • MIT MBAn
  • USC masters in applied data science
  • Columbia MSDS
  • National University of Singapore masters of data science

Waiting:

  • Brown MsC Data Science
  • Berkeley M.Eng Data Science

Depends on what you’re looking for. Are you going to be more focused on the computer science side of the house or statistics? I personally would choose Berkeley. Their PhD programs are pretty high up there, otherwise you could also apply to Stanford which is close by.

Im probably more interested in computer science! Berkeley would have been great but I know that normally M.Eng graduates are not encouraged to go to PhDs which is kind of deterring me from that program (if I get in of course).  In terms of proximity to industry Berkeley is next to none though so that might cancel out the fact that the program is an M.Eng.  And unfortunately it's way past the deadline to apply to stanford :(
