CSUN SLP MS Acceptance - NEED INPUT!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on here. I am torn about my grad school decision so if anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it! My background info:

  • Out-of-field applicant: BA in Human Development from UCSD/minored in linguistics (GPA 3.32), SLP leveling courses through SDSU (GPA 3.82)
  • GRE: V 155/ Q 150 / AW 4.0
  • No real research or shadowing experience but good letters of rec, interned w/ a speech therapy company for a bit during undergrad, thousands of volunteer hours in elementary schools, two years experience working as a developmental specialist w/ autism population, and two years experience working as a preschool aide
  • Applications (this is my first time applying): CSULB (rejected), SDSU (rejected), CSUF (rejected), UH Manoa (interviewed-haven't heard back), Eastern Washington University (interviewed-rejected), CSU East Bay (waitlisted), Portland State (waitlisted), CSUN (my only acceptance)

CSUN was sort of a safety school so I didn't do much research and really don't know much about the program. I'm tempted to accept, as I'm grateful to even get in anywhere and I REALLY don't want to go through the application process again, but I almost have the feeling I'm settling. So I don't know if I should go through with it or re-apply next year to get into a school I want more (SDSU was my top choice). On the off-chance I get accepted off the waitlist from CSUEB or Portland, I'd definitely choose that over CSUN. Anyone have anything good to say about CSUN's program? Or any words of encouragement in general? HELP!!!!

Don't feel bad about accepting an offer and then withdraw if you ever hear back from schools you got waitlisted at! It is totally okay!

if you need that safety net before 4/15, you should accept CSUN until you get off the waitlist at other schools!

i believe we had 321 together at sdsu! sending you all the good vibes!

Thanks for your input! That's what I was thinking too, accepting then withdrawing if necessary, it just makes me nervous for some reason! But it definitely eases some worry to hear it from someone else.

And how funny that you recognized we had 321 together! Hope you're doing well and congrats on SJSU :)
