I got accepted to USC for Civil Engineering PhD and TAMU for the materials science PhD Program. at USC I have RAship for 4 years and an advisor but I have to change my research area bit plus its DoE related project. At TAMU I have fellowship for 1 year from Department of Engineering College and I have advisor but not the project yet since I have fellowship so I can put my own proposal and work on my own project as per potential advisor's words. Now I am confuse which one is better as my career goal is to work at the national lab in California. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you!
