cm603044
Hi everyone! I'm trying to come up with a list of schools that might be feasible for me to get into with a pretty weak profile. Thanks in advance for any advice. Undergrad Institution: Small Regional Private SchoolMajor(s): AnalyticsMinor(s): Computer Science and EnglishGPA: 3.53 Type of Student: Domestic Female GRE: Haven’t taken yet. Probably 160-163 range for Quant. Programs Applying: Statistics/Applied Statistics MS Relevant Coursework: Calc I(B), Calc II(B), Calc III (B-) (took as an accelerated summer course while working full-time which was…not a great idea haha), Linear Algebra(A), Intro to Stats (got credit from taking the AP test in high school), SQL(A), Business Stats(A), R Programming(A), Data Mining(A), Advanced Analytics(A-), and other computer science classes I did for my minor (Java, Computer Architecture, etc.) Work Experience: 4 years of experience as a Quantitative Analyst doing data analysis (valuation modeling, forecasting, etc.). Schools I’m looking at: Reach: UCONN, WPI, UNH, NC State, University of Illinois Chicago Match (possibly): URI, University of Minnesota Duluth, DePaul, UVM, Bowling Green Safety: Given my background I wouldn’t consider anything a safety Any suggestions of schools to add to this list (or ones already on here that are so out of my league I shouldn't bother applying) would be really helpful! Stat Assistant Professor
Since you have taken Calculus I-III and Linear Algebra and finished with grades of B- or higher, I would think that you'd be able to get into the Masters programs at your 'match' schools and even some of your reach ones. Your GPA isn't terrible -- not superb, but not low enough to raise any red flags. I think applying to your current list of 10 schools might be sufficient.
