sirena Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi folks!!! I currently hold an MPH/MSW from UCLA- graduated in 2008. I run a teen parenting program, and love it, but have been thinking seriously about going back to school for a PhD. I am primarily interested in global/domestic reproductive health and its juncture with psychology. Specifically- I would like to continue to work in the area of reproductive/sexual health and marginalized adolescents, and the link between early motherhood/unsafe sexual practices and early trauma experience. My interest is in doing more research into what programs/practices are most effective in minority populations. I mainly have worked, and plan to continue to do so, with Latina women. I had been focusing primarily on applying for public health programs, including the PhD in Maternal and Child Health at UNC-Chapel Hill, among others. However, recently I began looking more into Medical Anth programs like the joint Berkeley/UCSF one, and those also seem to be an incredible fit. Any suggestions or advice on the difference between the two?? And, given my interests above, which programs might fit with me the best? Thanks!
