Joshua Helios Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I have a poor GPA(5.2/10) in my engineering math courses but a better GPA(8.6/10) in my distance MBA Quant courses. Although the MBA quant course had a whole lot of stats and algebra , it didn't have calculus in any depth, just a bit of function theory. I also have 5 years of experience in business intelligence consulting. My GRE score Q780 and V720. What are my options for a full time Masters in Statistics? I am looking for a course with a thesis opportunity because I will be applying for a PhD program later.

Might want to take the calculus sequence at a local college to get a feel for if you have a stomach for such things at a relatively low level. My experience with people from business backgrounds is that they are more plug and chug types, which even applied stats will function a bit of above.
Matt W Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Could you provide a little more information on which math and stats courses you have taken and a general idea of how well you did in them? Depending on your existing background it may or may not be possible for you to go straight into a grad program without upgrading.
lhfields Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I second Matt. Could you provide a little more information on which math and stats courses you have taken and a general idea of how well you did in them? Depending on your existing background it may or may not be possible for you to go straight into a grad program without upgrading.
