Hello everyone, I got the admission to 2 doctoral programs: The first is Defense & Strategic Studies at Missouri State University’s Graduate Department of Strategic Studies in D.C. and the second is a Doctorate in Law & Policy Studies at Northeastern University in Boston.
The Strategic Studies Doctorate program is in Washington DC with a strong faculty including the former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and other renowned experts in Foreign Policy and Security Studies.
The other program is in Boston and Northeastern has a very good reputation and better ranking and I can specialize in any policy track I want.
I’m indecisive about which program to go for. I’m interested in U.S. Foreign policy mainly the security policy towards global threats and want to be able to work in think thanks, consulting companies or the government. Teaching is not really in my plans but will not exclude a part time opportunity.
I’m currently a Global sanctions Analyst focusing on trade, economic and military sanctions across the globe and I have a Master in international security. My employer is paying for me so money is not an issue.
Which among the two programs do you guys think will be more beneficial and practical in a long term?.
Fyi: I’m not attached to the prestige of the school but the program that can help me achieve my goals.
