Here's my profile: Undergrad: Top 25 undergrad (US News) Major(s): Economics & StatisticsGPA: 3.89 Type of Student: Asian female Relevant Courses: Calculus I-III (A), Linear Algebra (B), Mathematical Proofs (B), Differential Equations (A), Real Analysis I (A), Probability Theory (A), Statistical Inference (A), Statistical Computing (A), Modern Regression (A), Advanced Data Analysis (A), Econometrics I-II (A), and various other economics classes GRE General Test: Q: 167V: 164W: 4.5 Programs Applying: Statistics Research Experience: one independent research project, 2 RA roles, no published papersPertinent Activities or Jobs: TA (2 semesters) Letters of Recommendation: 2 from professors who were also my research advisors, 1 from a statistics professor Other: I graduated a year early from university and spent that year working for a large hedge fund Schools Applying to (all Statistics PhD): UMich, UCLA, Yale, CMU, Rutgers, UCI, UC Davis Do you all think these are a good list of schools given my profile? j_li Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 It is kind of late to apply some elite programs like stanford or UCB, I think you could add Chicago and Wharton, which will fit your major perfectly. As for target, OSU, Minnesota are also good fit. Good luck with your applications.
trynagetby Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) If you're domestic and not strapped for cash I'd advise adding schools on the upper end of rankings if you're interested in their programs (think Uwashington, Duke, etc...). This advice especially applies if you're very close with those two professors and expect good LOR. Edit: Not sure when all the application deadlines are so apologies if they have already passed. bayessays Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 I think most those schools are matches, with UMich/CMU/Yale being more on the "slight reach" end. I'd feel more comfortable with the list with a few more schools in the OSU/Florida/Florida State range.
