chrismikayla Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Hello everyone I am new to the group and am excited to be a part of this forum. I have a bachelor's degree in Human Services counseling (Auburn University), I am currently also a certified addiction counselor and that is currently my career. I have been accepted into Liberty University, Grand Canyon University, and the University of South Dakota. I can only commit to an online program currently. I am not seeking licensure, but I want a Master's degree to be eligible for full licensure as an addiction counselor in private practice which will enable billing commercial insurance companies for addiction services. My requirement is a graduate degree in a human services field such as psychology, social work, counseling, or criminal justice. I completed my clinical practicum and supervision to become an addiction counselor already. I would like a graduate degree in something that is versatile in human services work outside of addiction counseling, so I was somewhat leaning towards a general psychology graduate degree. What are your thoughts on this?
T.O.hopeful Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Did you consider a Masters in Social Work? It's versatile but also leads to licensure/registration and you can do counselling with an MSW
