TheNewScientist Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Hi everyone. I know this is kind of a sensitive topic for some, but I am really interested to know more on how much does PhD students earn in STEM Fields (In particular, in Neuroscience). How much Universities offer to students? Is it enough to live with some quality life? I'll probably study at NYU next year, but I can not find how much they offer to their students and if they can live well in NYC. Thank you for everyone who can give me some light on this topic.
GibonFrog Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 I think I saw somewhere where NYU is right below 40k/yr. I think an average neuro stipend is low 30s.
XXXXXXphd2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 different folks have a different definition of 'live welll'. NYU vilcek 2022 will be around $43,000 (I am not sure if there is tax obligation for domestic students, if there is then deduct the tax). With subsidized housing that would be enough for me to live independently, eat organic, and travel from time to time.
