Hi everyone! I am currently applying to a masters program in communication. I have a BA in English language, literature, and creative writing (from the UK) where I took classes in sociolinguistics, particularly discourse analysis, language, gender, and sexuality. I developed an interest in understanding how queer, heterosexual, and nationalist identities are produced in online media through my papers and projects in class and didn't want to focus on just the linguistic aspect. I have found a program with faculty who work in areas I'm interested in. I wanted to ask if any of you have shifted from a different field to communication and if you have any pointers on how to prepare and present myself in my application. Thank you so much!
