maohio Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Hi all, I'm trying to decide between a few schools/programs, one of which being Duquesne's MA program. I'm curious to know what the general opinion of the program is, how their placement viewed, etc. From what I understand, the program seems like a good fit for my interests (20th c. French philosophy, psychoanalysis, Marxism(s) and critical theory), and the course offerings look quite exciting. From what I've gathered from talking to my professors, having a record of placing students into solid PhD programs is of most importance. I've also been accepted at New Mexico and Kent State, both of which seem to be viewed favorably on here, however it looks like Duquesne might have a "better" record when it comes to placing into top continental PhD programs? This is my first time applying to graduate schools, so I am very new to this. Any advice or thoughts would be welcomed.
you'll_never_get_to_heaven Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Ask about funding, TAships, opportunities for coursework at other schools, residency requirements (related to funding/tuition), etc.
